Meriden is a village in the town of Plainfield, NH. The town web site is www.plainfieldnh.org. We're in what is called the Upper Valley, which is more specifically the upper Connecticut River valley. The heart of the valley are the Hartford, VT (White River Junction) and Lebanon and Hanover, NH. Hanover is the home of Dartmouth College.
More locally, Meriden is the home of Kimball Union Academy, an almost 200 year old private school. many of the Town's kids go to KUA for high school; the balance go to Lebanon High School. The Plainfield School includes grades K-8 and has a great group of teachers. People move to Town because of the school. From the school parking lot there is a wonderful network of trails available for cross country skiing, hiking, and bike riding. If you get to the top there are great views of the area from the summit of Frenchs Ledges.
The guide to the area's culinary treasures is UVFood, created by our neighbor John Romkey. Local skiing can be found at Whaleback, Ascutney Mountain Resort, and the Dartmouth Skiway. Other cultural resources include the Montshire Museum, the Hood Museum, and the Hopkins Center. There's plenty to do around here!
