Marc, today's charrette was terrific. Thank you for your truly generous collaboration. You've caused me to turn a mental corner. Until recently, I thought that to do really intelligent buildings, we'd need the right clients, the right engineers, and a premium budget. Thanks to you, I now believe that to do intelligent buildings all we need is INTELLIGENCE!—and the guts to ask the simple questions until we get the answers, and the courage of our convictions to persuade others...

We can do this and it will change things. You've empowered us. Thanks. –Ellen

MARC HAS MOVED!

I'm working for South Mountain Company on Martha's Vineyard, a long time client specializing in design/build, interiors, and energy. I still spend about 1/3 time consulting off-island on zero energy buildings, Passive Houses, Deep Energy Retrofits, and other projects that aim to stretch far beyond typical green buildings.

Plainfield School Prototype Classroom DER approach is now extended to the entire 1989 wing of the school. The wing used about 1 kWh/sf the first year of operation for heating and cooling!

Two Energysmiths' projects, the Holderness NH house and the Livermore DER, are among the first to be meet the Thousand Home Challenge!

See presentations Marc made at Building Energy 2010 and Affordable Comfort 2010 on Zero Energy Homes, the Plainfield, NH School Prototype Classroom DER, and Balancing Investment between Envelope, Mechanicals, and Renewables under the Resources link
